Learjet 45 Series Aircraft Information
The Learjet 45 is a twin engine, nine passenger, and two crew member business Jet. The 45 model has an empty weight of 12,850 lbs (5,829 kg) and a maximum take off weight of 20,000 lbs (9,163 kg). Fuel capacity for the 45 is 896 US gallons (3,391 liters). The Cruise speed is 434 kts (500 mph, 858 km/h); the stall speed is 91 kts (105 mph, 169 mph) and should never exceed a speed of 463 kts (533 mph, 858 km/h).
Variations of the Learjet Model 45 include: Learjet 45XR. Other Learjet models include: 23, Learjet 24, Learjet 25, 28, 29, Learjet 31, Learjet 35, 36, 40, Learjet 55, Learjet 60 and 85. The future model of the Learjet 85 is scheduled for release in 2013.
The Learjet company started in 1955 with prototypes of Swiss ground-attack fighters. The company merged with Gates Aviation in 1969 and is now a subsidiary of Bombardier Aerospace. The Learjet 45 was the first prototype aircraft to be released under Bombardier. Bombardier has kept the Learjet line similar to previous models with minor changes to fuselage, engines, and interior design including a new wing-to-body fairing and a new engine pylon.
The aircraft come standard with small tricycle type landing gear however landing on a gravel runway can cause foreign object damage to the engines. A gravel kit is available for special modification.
The Learjet 45 is smaller than the earlier version but larger than the 60 models making it the main featured aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulators.
