Cessna 205 Aircraft Information
The Cessna 205 is a single engine, general aviation aircraft with fixed landing gear. The aircraft was originally developed from the retractable-gear Cessna 210. Cruise speed is 142 knots (163 mph, 263 km/h), stall speed is 54 knots (63 mph, 100 km/h), and maximum speed is 151 knots (174 mph, 280 km/h). Empty weight is 2176 lb (987 kg) and maximum takeoff weight is 3600 lb (1632 kg). The capacity of the 205, 206, and 207 is one crew member and five passengers. These airplanes have been used for aerial photography, skydiving, and other utility purposes. The combination of a powerful engine, large cabin, and rugged construction has made the 205, 206, and 207 popular bush planes. Between 1962 and 2006, a total of 8509 Cessna 205, 206, and 207 airplanes have been produced.
The Cessna 205 was only produced during 1963 and 1964 before being replaced by the Cessna 206. The six-seat 205 was essentially a Cessna 210 with changes to the crew and passenger door arrangement and fixed landing gear. The 205's Continental IO-470-S engine produces 260 hp. Variants of the Cessna 205 include the 205 (Model 210-5) and 205A (Model 210-5A).
