    Beechcraft C45 Series Aircraft Information

The twin-engined, low-wing, 6 to 11 seat, conventional-gear Beechcraft Model 18 or "Twin Beech" was manufactured by the Beech Aircraft Corporation. The Model 18 saw military service during and after World War II in a number of versions for the United States Army Air Forces and the United States Navy.

Produced from 1937 to 1970, the Beech 18 is the most modified U.S.-certified aircraft design, with over 200 FAA approved Supplemental Type Certificates on record for the aircraft. The airplane has many uses including carrying passengers, aerial spraying, aerial firefighting, skydiving, freight, skywriting and banner towing to name a few. Variant models include the 18A, S18A, 18B, S18B, 18D, S18D, A18D, SA18D, A18A, SA18A, 18R, 18S, B18S, C18S, D18S, D18C, E18S, E18S-9700, G18S, G18S-9150, H18, Beechcraft C-45 Series, C-45, C45 Expeditor and several military versions.

In the late 1930s, the Beechcraft Model 18 design was conventional for the time, including twin radial engines, all-metal semi-monocoque construction with fabric covered control surfaces and "taildragger" undercarriage, while less common were the twin tail fins. The early production aircraft were powered by two 330 hp Jacobs L-6s or 350 hp Wright R-760Es. The Model 18 has used a variety of engines and had a number of airframe modifications to increase gross weight and speed.
