Detailed Description

2013 Vans RV4 - Hot rod 200HP catto 3-blade prop - Clean, well-built RV-4 with Dynon panel, 203HP custom Lycon Dynoed  I0-320, and Catto 3-blade prop. Cruises 202mph at 7.3gph; top speed 212mph true at 11000' DA. Light (950 lbs), no damage history, always hangared. Engine has recorded consistent compression checks (all cylinders 78+) at every annual. Tall-man mod (builder was 6'2" and fit fine with headroom for a HGU-55 helmet). W&B is at edge of front CG empty so can carry a 200lbs plus person in back no issue.

Total time 720hrs on both engine and airframe.  see additional attached doc for complete specs.  Sep 2024 annual based at KDVT Phoenix AZ.

Installed Van's Electric Flap Kit EF-400 per Van's installation manual and DWG EF4.  Installed Ray Allen POS-12 Flap position sensor and wired IAW Ray Allen wiring Schematic.  Flaps and position sensor wired via Vertical Power circuit breaker and toggle actuator on Pilot control stick (Tosten MS-Grip).  Flaps configure for 20 degrees and 40 degrees actuation.  Flap limits tested and verified functioning properly on the ground.  Will recalibrate if needed once air loads tests are performed in flight.
Installed Tosten MS-Grip in the Pilot position stick and wired via DB9 connecter.  Flap, PTT and Autopilot disconnect wired and functioning properly.  Additional button functions wired but left unconnected behind panel for future functionality.
Installed Dynon Autopilot with the following components IAW Dynon autopilot installation manual (Doc 101320-034 Rev A1.  Fabricated a 1.5inch diameter bracket out of .032 4130 for control torque tube connection to roll servo. Wired both servos to Vertical Power module and assigned a 5 amp circuit breaker.  CWS and AP disconnect wired to Pilot control stick via the index grip (grey) button.  Calibrated servos via Dynon PFD and on ground calibration and test was successful. Will complete in flight calibration and adjust as needed.

Installed Dynon ADS-B in module with the following components.  Installed in right side belly section on vertical rib web of fuselage and wired to Vertical Power and Dynon PFD serial connection.  Antenna was mounted at minimum 24 inches from transponder antenna  and wired with RG400 and BNC connectors.  All configurations were done on Dynon PFD and tested functionality was successful.

Installed JDair Tailwheel assembly with Tail link IAW JD AIR installation manual DWG:TWYOKEASSM.  Additionally, the existing tailwheel spring was removed and a new Vans Spring FSTS635-1 was matched drilled and installed.  Existing tailwheel was used and adjusted for proper tracking.  Ground testing was performed and all functions working as expected.
Catto Propeller removed. Crush plate and spinner trimmed for correct fit.  Crush plate was making contact on propeller and contacted Catto and sent pictures for guidance on damage.  Catto inspected pictures and no damage found other than cosmetic paint.  Propeller reinstalled and torqued to 38 ft/lbs and safety wired.
Brakes were replaced with new R66-106 linings and reinstalled.
ELT batteries were changed and now valid until 10/2023
Dynon OAT was repositioned from inside flap track area to fuselage side just forward of rear inspection panel on left side.
All other checks/inspections performed are detailed on the N986BP Conditional Inspection worksheet dated Sep 2024.
