    Detailed Description

This good-looking plane is ready for a new home. It spent many years in the aeronautical museum here at Torrance Airport. It has been hangered for the last 15 years and maybe longer. We have started it occasionally and changed the oil last summer. It was started and ran well less than a month ago. It has no major damage history, and we are pricing it to sell. We have other needs for our hanger.. The AA-1 has the same engine as a Cessna 152 but it is much sportier.
These planes are fun to fly and they have superb visibility. VREF appraisal is over $45,000.
This is truly an investable aircraft that you can fly for years and sell it for more than you paid for it.

    Avionics / Equipment

    It needs ADS=B

    Airframe

It could pass for an "8" outside.
It has likely been hangered since the paint was done. The aircraft will need an Annual inspection
prior to leaving KTOA. If we have it completed the
price will go up. The logs are complete and original. it was not too long after that it went into
the Torrance Aeronautical Museum who became
the owners until about 4 years ago. Since then it has been in my hanger.

    Engines / Mods / Prop

Same Lycoming engine as Cessna 152
It was overhauled by a reputable repair station
815 hours ago. It had a prop strike in 2000 and
had a well-documented tear down inspection with
new parts in the crankcase. The owner paid extra
for what amounts to a top overhaul. They even replaced all four cylinders. I will supply the work
orders showing details and parts lists. It went into the Museum in around 2012. That was only 78 hours ago.

    Interior / Exterior

    Good condition for its age.

    Remarks

When Grumman bought the production rights this model became
This model became launched a very successful group of airplanes. The AA-1 was
the base line for the Traveler, the Tiger and even a short lived
MEL trainer. Grumman American never made a major impact on the piston market even though they built quality aircraft. The president of the company was Russ Meyer who was quite successful but was hired away to become the future president and CEO of Cessna Aircraft Company.
