    Detailed Description

This 601B Aerostar is an amazing machine with speed, safety, presence and tons of room. Moving up from a Baron this Aerostar has served me well and I am moving into another Aerostar. The 601B is non-pressurized but still retains the Turbo's and intercoolers for the speed. It typically trues out between 210-220kt down low, and will do 230-250 up high. The 601B has the highest useful load of all the Aerostars. It has mid time engines that I have ran over 100 hours in the last 6 months and they have been great. Easily climbing over 1500fpm fully loaded with my family to any altitude while still covering ground at 160kt, really gets you places quick. The Aerostar is fast in all phases of flight and does not have to climb high to go fast.

The wing which has rumors of being unsafe has been one of my favorite features. It truly flies like a jet and is extremely stable, and doesn't bounce around like smaller aircraft. Two cool facts about the Aerostar, its one of the only aircraft certified without a stall horn, and the wing will stall before reaching VMC which really is a safety feature. The Aerostar is honest and flies like a dream, truly a pilots plane. I also absolutely love the pilots door and easy access without having to climb on the wing. The cabin is wider than it looks and very comfortable.

This particular 601B was certified known ice, however all the boots have been removed. The prop heat, alcohol windshield and heated pitot is still there. The Boots could be reinstalled. The 601B has a higher gross weight and wing extension and could be converted to a 600 via a STC to remove the turbo system if you wanted to.

This aircraft went through a "progressive restoration" annual at Juliet Delta by Joel Stout one of the leading Aerostar experts. The annual was 50k. We focused on making it right, and ensuring all oil and fuel lines were new or in great shape.

Since the annual I have replaced all the tires with Goodyear flight customs, all new Whelen LED lights with strobes, on the wings, tail, and landing/taxi light. Both struts have been rebuilt, and a Garmin 760 installed.

The GTX345 and Flight Stream 210 are linked to the Garmin 430w with Bluetooth, which allows for Flight plan sync, and Bluetooth traffic on the Garmin 760 and any other Bluetooth device.

The Century 4 autopilot has been flawless, and has GPSS steering from the 430W, and will fly a coupled approach down to minimums with ease. I have fell in love with the simplicity of the system and how it is on rails.

The 165 gallon fuel system give great range and is super easy to manage! You literally just turn it on! A Shadin fuel computer has been really accurate, usually within a 10th of a gallon at fill up. 22gph at 170kt / 30gph at 195kt / 35gph at 210kt / 230-250kt at 45gph depending on altitude which is certified to 30,000.

The aircraft is really in excellent condition and could really only use a paint job. It looks great from 20 feet away but up-close there is some chipping from age being done in 2002.

This is the ultimate family and business machine without going to a jet or 2 million dollar turbo prop. The Aerostar was designed to be a Jet and is built like a tank. My wife and kids don't want to fly in anything else.
