Detailed Description

Experience Aviation Excellence with the C-GVFF ThunderBee

Currently based in Canada but can easily be imported to the United States.

Originally born as a classic 1947 Republic RC-3 Seabee, C-GVFF has undergone a remarkable transformation to embody the pinnacle of modern aviation technology. In 2005, a team of AME's embarked on a meticulous bare-hull restoration, elevating this iconic aircraft to new heights.

The centerpiece of this transformation is the Robinson LS V8 engine conversion, boasting a powerful 320HP Chevy LS-1 engine. Complementing this upgrade are Freon air conditioning and a state-of-the-art digital avionics package, complete with dual channel autopilot and dual battery backup systems.

We've enhanced the aircraft's practicality by enlarging the baggage compartment door and extending the compartment itself, thanks to the strategic relocation of aileron cables. This modification provides ample space for all your gear and luggage, supporting a demonstrated 1000lb useful load for both water and land operations.

Witness the exceptional craftsmanship of this aircraft in person to truly appreciate its magnificence. While its original airframe dates back to 1947, the Seabee was entirely rebuilt and customized in 2010. Since its purchase five years ago, it has undergone comprehensive inspections, with over $50k invested since 2017 to ensure pristine mechanical condition. June 2024 Annual current. This award-winning aircraft, a standout in its class at Oshkosh, is based in Boundary Bay, BC (CZBB) and has always been hangared. It boasts a clean history with no known damage and enjoys regular flights in fresh water.

Our commitment to innovation led us to replace the original hydraulic system with a cutting-edge all-electric landing gear system. Unique features of this aircraft include billet aluminum machined control column extensions and knobs, with control wheels salvaged from an Airbus A300.

The ThunderBee delivers impressive performance, operating at 2,500ft with 23" MAP and 3300RPM, achieving 102 knots TAS while consuming just 11 gallons per hour. It offers the flexibility to use premium automotive, marine, or 100LL fuel, with a usable fuel capacity of 75 gallons.

Adorned in a removable vinyl appliqué, C-GVFF pays tribute to the valiant men and women of Canada's 415 Squadron, honoring their service from 1941 to 2005. Their legacy includes torpedo bombing, anti-submarine patrol, air-sea search and rescue, and coastline maritime patrol missions.

In the tradition of Republic's Thunder series-ThunderBolt, ThunderJet, ThunderStreak, and ThunderChief-we proudly present the ThunderBee: a highly modified seaplane that embodies both heritage and innovation.
